Visual Working Memory Span Test
VISMEM-PLAN: Concentration Test
Test to evaluate organization, structuring, and planning abilities.
Cognitive test to measure different cognitive abilities like planning or working memory.
Compare results by age group. Give it a try!
The Concentration Test VISMEM-PLAN took as a reference the Corsi block-tapping test (Corsi, 1972; Kessels et al., 2000; Wechsler, 1945). In the first part of the task, some circles, within a fixed array of circles, light up. The test-taker is required to memorize which circles, within the array, have lit up and then try to reproduce the sequence in the right order. In the second part of the task, a delay of 4 secs is added between the first screen and the playback screen, in order to increase the time the user must retain the information.
For more information about what variables are measured in this task, read this document.
- Evaluated cognitive abilities:Spatial perception, short-term memory, visual short-term memory, non-verbal memory, working memory, planning, processing speed, response time.
- Time allowed:Between 40 seconds and 10 minutes, approximately.
- Areas of application:Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Neuropsychology, General Medicine and Research.
- Format:Online Computerized Test (PCs, cell phones, and tablets).
- Objective:Remember as many visual stimuli as possible.
- Instructions:A total of ten stimuli are displayed, arranged irregularly across the screen. The stimuli will light up in a random order and the user must memorize the sequence. In the first half of the task, the user must reproduce the sequence shown in the same order as it was presented. In the second half, the user must wait for an animation to finish before being allowed to respond in the same order. The task will start by illuminating two stimuli, and a new stimulus will be added each time the user hits a complete sequence.
